Associate Chief Medical Officer

As the Associate Chief Medical Officer of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Stewart manages medical staff governance, hospital epidemiology and infection control, patient safety, credentialing, hospital information management, and the clinical documentation excellence team.  As core faculty of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality he had led the Leadership Academy for Patient Safety and Quality within the Johns Hopkins System and led the Leadership Academies with the Department of Defense and Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo, Brazil.  His current research sponsors include the NIDCD, AHRQ, HRSA and the CDC.

Dr. Stewart has been an international collaborator with surgical and medical education with hospitals in Japan, Antigua and Barbuda, Cameroon, Colombia, and Mexico.  He has provided medical and surgical care to patients in Colombia, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Cameroon, and Palestine.  He has partnered with hospital and health care systems to improve healthcare practice and delivery in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Peru, Columbia, and Brazil.
