Obstetrics and Gynecology

What is obstetrics and gynecology?

Our obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) experts welcome you to Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH), and can assure you of the best possible medical care for women aged 14 and above. We provide a warm and caring environment for all aspects of women’s health; from pregnancy and birth care, through to gynecological problems and cancers.

With the latest surgical techniques and expertise, including high-risk and general obstetrics, and infertility services, we are here to diagnose, treat and support you.

OB/GYN treatments, services and procedures

Our experts offer diagnosis, treatment and support for all types of gynecological cancer, including uterine, endometrial, cervical, fallopian tubes/ovarian, vulvar and vaginal. Treatment may include surgical procedures, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or palliative care.

We provide counseling, as well as medical and surgical care, for various gynecological conditions, including fibroids, endometriosis, menorrhagia, menopause, polycystic ovaries syndrome, premenstrual syndrome and pelvic pain. We offer a wide range of minimally invasive approaches, including vaginal hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and robotic surgery, for various gynecological problems.

We have expert doctors to help you deal with infertility problems. We look into the causes of infertility and provide treatment for couples, along with counseling and support.

Pregnancy can be an exciting and happy event in a woman’s life, and we are here to provide care and support during your pregnancy and childbirth. Your first visit will start with our Midwife Clinic, where we will carry out routine blood tests, urine analysis, ante-natal classes, a labor and delivery tour, and ultrasound. Our nurses will closely monitor the health and wellbeing of both you and your baby. At each visit, we will monitor your vital signs, weight and height, test your urine, check your OB history, and provide health education.

When it is time for the big arrival, our expert obstetrics doctors and midwives will help deliver your baby, bringing in other medical specialists (such as feto-maternal) if necessary.

Our doctors are experts in treating conditions such as uterine prolapse, pelvic floor muscle relaxation and urine incontinence.

OB/GYN Clinic visit

Our OB/GYN Clinic is not a self-referral service. You will need to make an initial appointment with your Primary Care physician or midwife, who will then make a referral and help you to book an appointment with the clinic.

When you arrive at the OB/GYN Clinic, you will be checked in, and within five minutes an OB/GYN nurse will carry out an initial clinical screening. If you are pregnant, you will be asked to collect a urine sample and give it to your nurse. Wait times are around 15-20 minutes, and your appointment will usually last 20-30 minutes. Depending on your condition, you may need to take part in further imaging procedures and laboratory tests. All of these procedures and any follow-up appointments can be arranged by the OB/GYN team at the clinic’s front desk.

Our experienced team will look after you from your first consultation – when you can find out more about some of your options – through to treatment and post-treatment. Your dedicated team may include a consultant obstetrician, gynecological surgeons, staff physicians, certified nurses, midwives and advanced practice nurses.

We also work closely with our JHAH colleagues who specialize in neonatology, pediatric surgery, digestive diseases (gastroenterology and hepatology), urology, oncology, laboratory medicine and pathology, genetic disorders, and other areas. We develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs and all aspects of your condition.

Our patients say it best

I want to thank doctor Mulhim and the team in OB/GYN. My iron levels are now normal. I have regained my energy so I am now ready to lead a new, high-impact initiative in the upstream business line. I am doing great!

I had both my children at JHAH, and had a great experience both times. The first was a planned C-section (breech baby) and the second was a VBAC. My VBAC was great. The midwife caring for me was very committed to letting me labor on my own, avoiding another C-section.
