Oral assessments

On your first visit to our General Dentistry Clinic, our dental radiology experts will take some X-rays of your teeth. Your dentist will then take your blood pressure and review your medical history, answering any concerns you have regarding your teeth. They will then carefully examine your teeth and gums. We will walk you through and agree on a treatment plan, which will include the number of visits needed, any cosmetic treatment, any specialist referrals and treatment cost. We will answer any questions you may still have.

After your dental visit, we can arrange your next appointment with your dentist, dental hygienist and/or dental specialist.

We are passionate about the dental health of children, and from your child’s first visit we put parent and child at the heart of our care.

We recommend that you begin your visits when your child is less than 12 months old, providing a vital early start in your child’s journey to good dental health.

Download our guide: My Child’s First Dental Visit

During this first visit, your pediatric dentist will assess your child’s general health, evaluate any risks of dental disease, review good oral health habits, and create an evidence-based treatment plan – all while helping build your child’s confidence in the clinic and team.

We aim to build up a positive dental experience for you and your child with every visit. On an ongoing basis, we will talk through with you what to expect at each stage of your child’s development to provide the best possible preventive care. In the event that your child needs to have a cavity filled, we can provide various treatments and types of anesthesia to make them as comfortable as possible.

Orthodontic treatment can give you a beautiful smile that will boost your self-confidence, or eliminate difficulties when you bite and chew food. If you or your child exhibit one or more of the following symptoms, come and see us for an orthodontic assessment:

  • Early or late loss of baby teeth
  • Breathing through your mouth rather than nose
  • Crowded or blocked-out teeth
  • Jaws that protrude or make noises when moving
  • Teeth that stick out
  • Teeth that don’t meet properly when the mouth is closed
  • Facial imbalance or asymmetry
  • Grinding or clenching of teeth
  • Inability to comfortably close lips

To enable us to tackle the root cause of a problem, we recommend that you arrange an appointment at the earliest opportunity. Children should ideally be treated no later than the age of seven, before their face and jaws have finished growing. However, orthodontic treatment is not just for children. Healthy teeth can be moved at any age and a large number of our orthodontic patients are adults.

If you want to straighten or better align your teeth, there are a number of choices, including traditional metal braces and clear aligners. Orthodontic treatment usually takes between two and three years, and once ‘active’ treatment is complete, you may be given a retainer to keep your teeth in their new positions.

We use the latest technology to help reduce treatment time and give you the best possible service:

  • All X-rays are digital, enabling dentists to review and share the image with you in minutes, while you are still in the treatment chair
  • Digital impressions can be made with a camera, enabling the impression to be sent online to our top laboratory, in order to produce the ‘Invisalign’ clear aligner
  • Ceramic crowns can be fitted in one day – a major leap forward from the previous multiple visits over three weeks – using the latest digital dentistry technology
