Lung Cancer Screening

Lung cancer screening helps detect lung cancer at its earliest stages—when it is most treatable. This screening is recommended for individuals at high risk, especially those who currently smoke or have a history of smoking.

Who Should Get Screened?

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) recommends annual lung cancer screening for adults aged 50 - 80 years who have:

  • A long-term smoking history of 20 pack-years* or more—whether they currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years.

*20 pack-years means smoking one pack of cigarettes per day for 20 years, or two packs of cigarettes per day for 10 years.

Screening Test

At JHAH, lung cancer screening is performed using a low-dose computerized tomography (CT) scan. A low-dose CT scan is a detailed imaging test that uses low levels of radiation to detect changes in the lungs, enabling early diagnosis and treatment

How to Get Screened

Book an appointment with your primary care physician to discuss your eligibility for a low-dose CT scan and schedule your screening.
