Prostate cancer often develops without noticeable symptoms in its early stages. That’s why routine screening is important– it can help detect prostate cancer early, when treatment is more effective and survival rates are significantly higher.
Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) recommends that men aged 50 to 69 undergo prostate cancer screening every 2 years.
At JHAH, prostate cancer screening begins with a consultation. Your Primary Care Physician will discuss with your family history and other risk factors with you to determine whether a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test is appropriate.
The PSA test is a simple, quick blood test used to assess the health of your prostate. If you choose to proceed, your physician will arrange for the test.
