First Cohort of Students Complete Biomedical Internship Program in Al-Hasa Health Center

The first cohort of students has completed the Biomedical Engineering Internship Program at JHAH's Al-Hasa Health Center. The program, a joint partnership between JHAH's Facility Operations and the King Faisal University College of Engineering, is designed to develop and coach young Saudi talent and prepare them for the healthcare sector.

Biomedical engineering is the application of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology. The aim of biomedical engineering is to understand, modify or control biological systems as well as to design and build products that monitor physiological functions and assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

During the program, participants are introduced to the exciting, dynamic, interdisciplinary field of biomedical engineering through formal lectures on theory to practical application through hands-on lab activities designed to enhance knowledge and promote innovation. The program covers all major, established subdivisions of the biomedical engineering discipline, including medical imaging, pharmaceutical robotics, and medical lab automation. The goal is to broaden the participants' understanding of basic biological processes and enable them to develop innovative approaches to prevent, diagnose and treat disease.

Biomedical engineering is a multidisciplinary field where quantitative, analytical, and integrative methods are applied to all levels of human physiology in order to address problems in biology and medicine. Biomedical engineering combines the design and problem-solving skills of engineering with the medical and biological sciences to improve healthcare.
