DAISY Award at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare

JHAH chose to join the DAISY Award Foundation in 2022 to ensure that we recognize the amazing work that our nurses perform selflessly and honorably every day.

The DAISY Award: Evidence-based, meaningful recognition

The DAISY Award Program has a 21-year history as a successful recognition method. JHAH nursing decided to join the program as evidence shows that when nurses are recognized for their excellent patient care, the results are:

  • improvement of patient-experience outcomes
  • demonstrating and supporting patient and family-centered care
  • fostering loyalty to an organization
  • valuable insights to enrich our nursing training and enhance the patient experience

About the DAISY Award

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day.

The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way.

The DAISY Award recognizes nurses who are extraordinary in the impact they have on compassionate patient care.
