New Rehabilitation Center Expands Access and Recovery

A Major Step Forward in Specialized Care

JHAH marked a significant milestone with the opening of its new Rehabilitation Center in Building 554. The purpose‑built facility represents a major investment in patient‑centered rehabilitation services and is a strong example of the Care Forward Strategy brought to life. The center is designed to accelerate recovery, enhance privacy and deliver world‑class therapy services to our community.

The new center more than doubles the available clinical space from 900 m² to 2,000 m² and expands the number of treatment rooms from 25 to over 40. This enables teams to serve more patients with greater efficiency, privacy and comfort.

“This center is the realization of a vision we have held for years — This center is a testament to our vision and commitment to clinical excellence. It embodies our strategy to transform rehabilitation, giving every patient access to advanced therapies in an environment where they are truly valued. This is the future of patient-centered care in action, said Lamia Al-Zayer, Senior Director, Specialized Therapy & Clinical Services. “I am immensely proud of what this team has built, and what it will mean for every patient who walks through these doors.”

New Services That Strengthen Clinical Practice

The Rehabilitation Center brings several new services and technologies to JHAH that were not previously available, expanding the scope and sophistication of care:

  • Robotic Therapy Hub — Robots guide patient movements with high precision, supporting recovery after injuries, strokes or surgeries.
  • Magneto Therapy — A painless, non‑invasive modality using magnetic fields to reduce pain and accelerate healing.
  • Assistive Technology Clinic — Helps patients identify specialized devices and tools that support independence and daily function.
  • Neuro integrated service- provides interdisciplinary environment for occupational and physical therapy rehabilitation care.
  • Dedicated Splinting & Occupational Therapy Room — On‑site fabrication of custom splints and supports, improving turnaround time and personalization.
  • Two fully equipped rehabilitation gyms — Modern, segregated spaces with advanced equipment to support diverse rehabilitation programs.
  • Sport Performance assessment and therapy.

These additions elevate the department’s clinical capabilities and enable more targeted, evidence‑based treatment pathways.

A Facility Designed Around the Patient

Every detail of the new center was designed with the patient in mind. From the moment patients walk in, they will notice the difference:

  • Calm, healing environment — natural lighting, high-quality finishes, and a layout designed for recovery
  • Enhanced privacy — closed treatment bays and private rooms replace old, curtained areas
  • Easy navigation — clear signage and organized layout for smooth patient flow
  • Full accessibility — wide corridors, wheelchair-friendly entrances, and gender-segregated gyms
  • More clinical pace and shorter wait times — more space and capacity mean faster appointments for all patients— benefits that are immediate and meaningful

By relocating into a dedicated facility, JHAH also frees valuable clinical space in the main hospital, moving closer to its vision of operating each major specialty as a Center of Excellence.

The new Rehabilitation Center reinforces JHAH’s dedication to advancing healthcare delivery through specialized environments, innovative technologies and a relentless focus on patient outcomes.

“The opening of this center is a proud moment for our team and a meaningful one for every patient we serve, said Fatimah Al-Zaid, Director of Rehabilitation. “We now have the space, the technology, and the environment to deliver care that truly makes a difference — faster recovery, greater comfort, and a rehabilitation experience built around each individual.”
