JHAH Opens New PET/CT Facility, Advancing Precision and Patient Centered Care

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) has officially opened a new, state-of-the-art Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) facility at its hospital, marking a significant step forward in advanced diagnostics and comprehensive patient care.

The facility represents a major investment in precision medicine, enabling clinicians to diagnose disease earlier, plan treatment more accurately and monitor response to therapy with greater confidence. By combining metabolic and anatomical imaging in a single examination, PET/CT provides a clearer and more complete picture of disease, supporting informed clinical decision-making across a wide range of medical specialties.

Commenting on the opening, Dr. Howard Podolsky, Chief Executive Officer of JHAH, said, "The launch of our PET/CT facility underscores JHAH's commitment to delivering advanced, patient-centered care. This technology allows our physicians to detect disease with greater precision, guide confident treatment decisions and ultimately improve outcomes for our patients."

Precision You Can Trust

The PET/CT technology delivers clearer and more accurate diagnoses supporting a broad range of clinical needs, including oncology, cardiology, neurology and complex diagnostic cases. Faster scan times and optimized workflows contribute to quicker results, helping clinicians move swiftly from diagnosis to treatment.

Key features of the PET/CT facility include:

  • Advanced PET/CT imaging for highly accurate disease detection and localization
  • Imaging capabilities that support diverse medical conditions and care pathways
  • Faster results that enable timely, confident clinical decisions
  • Improved access with reduced waiting times for patients
  • Staffed by highly-trained nuclear medicine technologists

Designed Around Safety and the Patient Experience

The new PET/CT suite has been thoughtfully designed to prioritize safety, comfort and privacy throughout the patient journey. Enhanced radiation safety protocols are aligned with international standards, while dedicated preparation and recovery areas provide a calm, supportive environment before and after imaging procedures.

"Bringing PET/CT services in-house improves the continuity and coordination of care," said Sagar Al-Anazi, JHAH Chief Operating Officer. "This facility supports our Care Forward Plan by expanding access to advanced diagnostics, reducing delays and strengthening our ability to deliver high-quality care in a safe, patient-focused environment."

Strengthening Integrated Cancer Care

The addition of PET/CT significantly enhances JHAH's cancer services, allowing for more accurate staging, treatment planning and follow-up. Ultimately, the facility is an important milestone in JHAH's ongoing efforts to provide exceptional, world-class healthcare—bringing together clinical expertise, advanced technology and a strong commitment to patient-centered care for the communities it serves.
