JHAH Inaugurates Fully Renewed Emergency Services Department, Enhancing Speed and Quality of Care

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) has completed a major renewal of its Emergency Services Department, unveiling a modernized environment designed to deliver faster, safer and more patient-centered emergency care.

The upgraded department reflects a significant investment in improving the patient experience during critical moments.

Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Howard Podolsky, JHAH's Chief Executive Officer, said, "This upgrade reflects JHAH's continued commitment to delivering exceptional care when patients need us most. By creating a faster, safer and more patient-centered environment, we are strengthening our ability to provide timely emergency treatment while improving comfort, privacy and the overall experience for patients and their families."

Expanded Capacity to Improve Patient Flow

The renewal includes a substantial 70% increase in total emergency bed capacity, enabling clinicians to assess and treat patients more efficiently. The expanded layout now features:

  • 21 adult emergency beds
  • 14 observation beds
  • 2 trauma beds
  • A dedicated Pediatric Emergency Unit with 6 pediatric beds
  • Newly-added ultrasound and Computed Tomography (CT) capabilities for rapid diagnostics

These enhancements are expected to reduce wait times and support smoother patient movement throughout the department.

A Modern, Patient-Focused Environment

The project also introduced major infrastructure and comfort upgrades, including:

  • Fully renewed water, sanitary and power systems
  • Enhanced air conditioning for cleaner, healthier air
  • Full Mowaamah accessibility compliance for safe, comfortable mobility
  • A more spacious, private and calming environment
  • Seamless access to all emergency services under one roof

The renewed Emergency Services Department strengthens JHAH's ability to deliver high-quality care supported by advanced technology and clinical expertise.

"This milestone reflects our Care Forward Plan in action—expanding access, improving patient experience and strengthening emergency care for the community we serve," said Sagar Al-Anazi, JHAH Chief Operating Officer.

With these enhancements, JHAH continues to advance its mission of providing exceptional world-class care.
