Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) was recognized at the 13th Annual Johns Hopkins Medicine Quality, Safety and Service Summit in Baltimore for five accepted projects spanning discharge planning, patient flow, emergency care, oncology, and cardiac services.
A major highlight was the recognition of two Al-Hasa initiatives, Built-in Quality at Discharge and FLOWSAFE - Optimizing Bed Utilization, which received the prestigious Armstrong Institute Safety Star Award from the Johns Hopkins Medicine Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality.
The project team members received the awards in recognition of their quality improvement achievements, along with individual appreciation certificates. Dr. Shareef Almubarak, Quality and Patient Safety Director at Al-Hasa Health Center, presented the award-winning work and accepted the honors on behalf of Dr. Saeed Al-Yami, JHAH’s Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer and the project teams.
The summit also featured two poster presentations submitted by Nora Alkhaldi of Process Improvement, representing the COE Oncology and EMS teams. The projects focused on standardizing chemotherapy regimens to achieve 100% compliance with evidence-based protocols and improving timely physician assessment of Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Level 3 patients in the Dhahran Emergency Department, where performance exceeded the established target.
The team also presented the Dedicated Cardiac Catheterization Recovery Area project, which supports safe same-day discharge while improving patient flow and optimizing inpatient bed utilization.
The achievements reflect JHAH's continued commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and multidisciplinary collaboration, demonstrating how teams across the organization are turning innovative ideas into measurable results that enhance patient care.
